October 2007

Some candy, some fun and games and a couple of ear infections.

You haven’t lived until you’ve trick or treated in 80 degree weather. We were sweaty but we still had a good time. We went to Harvest Festival at the Chapel. The girls had a lot of fun. They had about 15 games, indoors and outdoors. The girls each got a card which they had to go to certain games to get stamped. When they got 6 stamps they turned them in for a prize. The prize was a glow necklace and bracelet. Hank ran the basketball game. He did a great job interacting with all of the kids.
Jordan went with his friends to trick or treat. He also went to the haunted house. He went with 1 boy and 4 girls. He said when the other boy saw the chain saw guys outside the haunted house he ran away. Jordan stayed and went through with the 4 girls. Hank said Jordan is the man.
Amiyah went to the Dr. yesterday. She has an ear infection. Jordan woke up this morning with ear pain and fluid coming out of his ear, so back to the Dr. we go. We joke that we need our own daily appointment slot, and a stockpile of antibiotics. Well off to the shower I go. Jordan’s appointment is in about an hour.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!
Well it is here, tomorrow for everyone else. The girls are all being princesses. Alyssa is dressing up as Sleeping Beauty. Ashlyn will be The Little Mermaid. Amiyah will be Cinderella. We are going trick or treating and then we are all going to the chapel for harvest fest. Hank and I are volunteering to run one of the games. The girls will love it. There are tons of games, fun, food, and candy. Hank and the girls carved a pumpkin last night and will carve another one tonight. He used a pumpkin kit for the first one. He carved a bat into it. Alyssa drew a face for the second one. We will post pics soon.
Amiyah learned to crawl yesterday. We were so excited for her to reach this milestone. She has not yet realized that this ability opens up a whole new world of exploring. She still stays in the living room. I figure she will get to it soon enough. She has been sick, so I am taking her in to see the Dr. this afternoon. She has been running a fever for several days, and has a nasty cough. I want to have it checked out to be on the safe side. I am glad she is sick during the week. Usually our kids get really sick on the weekend, and then it is a trip up to Navy Hospital ER. So anyway always glad to avoid that.

Alyssa rides her bike, germs ride us.

It is cold and flu season at the Scott house. I have lost track of who has had what. Amiyah has a cold right now. this is bad because that means I haven’t gotten it yet. Alyssa and Ashlyn are over theirs. They have had a few colds. Jordan is in the midst of desease X. Hank and I should put ourselves in a bubble for the next few months.
We went to the haunted trail and it was fun. Ashlyn didn’t care for it. It was kid friendly, so it was only a little scary. Ashlyn made it about half way through before she started to cry. It was a trail that went through the jungle. We probably walked about a half mile. There was different boogedy boogedy stuff along the way. When it was done we took a hay ride back.
Yesterday those of us who were baptizes were presented with a certificate of baptism along with some photos. Hank posted the photos.
We had a 3 day weekend. The kids went back to school this morning. I will hopefully get some cleaning done. Who knows with a sick infant? I feel bad for Amiyah, she has 3 older siblings to get germs from.
Alyssa has learned to ride her bike. Before now she has put in effort from time to time in learning how to ride. She would get frustrated with lack of progress or she would have to much anxiety and quit after a couple of days. She could ride but she had trouble getting started and when her weight would shift she would put her feet down. We finally told her she has to try, and if she learned to ride up the street and back without daddy’s help she could have a new bike. Well 10 minutes later she and Hank came back into the house to inform me that we owed Alyssa a new bike. She got her bike a couple hours later. Hank told her she had to ride her new bike as part of the deal. The next day she was riding like she had been doing it for years. She was speeding up and down the street, going in circles, on and off the sidewalk. I can not believe how much she has changed in just a few months. It is like she grew up over night.
Well gotta go. Amiyah is down for a nap. I still need to put Ashlyn’s hair up and get dressed for my day.

What's new

Well the kids have no school today. Hank is on 8 hour day shifts so we were able to take the kids out on a spontaneous trip to a small shopping mall hadn’t been to. Hank decided we should go have a pumpkin milkshake experience. He had heard of a coffee shop in Hagatna called Java Jungle who is selling them. We went on our milkshake excursion and man it was worth it. We also went to dinner at a locally owned restraint called Shirley’s. It was ok. We topped the night off with a trip to the Sweet Dreams candy store. I have to be the grownup in this store and reel everyone in. We all had a great time. Tonight we are taking the kids to the haunted trail.
Amiyah is 8 months old. She is doing everything but crawl. She sometimes gets on her hands and knees and looks like she is going to take off, but then she will sit back down and play. She is delightful. She is so cautious. We all enjoy her so much. We get so excited when she does something new. She is pulling herself up on her knees, and sometimes all the way to standing. She babbles. And she likes to shake her head at us so we will shake it back. She has got the pincer grasp down. She has started eating some finger foods. She is growing so fast.
Alyssa is doing great in school and has improved in so many things. She has learned to swim on top of the water and goes in the pool without a life jacket. Her handwriting and writing skills have improved a lot. She has given a couple speeches at school. She does really well speaking in front of others, Hank and I are jealous. She enjoys piano more now and has really progressed. She plays using both hands and is reading music. She has a recital next month. She is still learning basic songs, but she learns them fast. She turned 8 in Sep.
Jordan is in 8th grade now. He is still having some difficulty keeping his grades up. He can be a good student when he puts in the effort. He is in sports club which meets a few times a week. They usually play capture the flag. He injured his thumb not to long ago and had to were a brace for about a week. He insisted on continuing to playing even with the brace. He likes playing on the computer. We haxe to limit his playing time.
Ashlyn is nuts. She is so much fun. She has started using big words like overreacting. She told me yesterday that I am making her life hard. She calls her poop a clunker, thanks to Hank. I am home schooling her for pre-k. She is very different from Alyssa. I will say to her lets do some school work. Ashlyn will say ok, but I don’t want to read or write. So we mostly play. She is so spicy.
We have been trying to get out and do stuff on the island. We went on a sunset dinner cruise. We have also went to Tarza water park. There is pics of both. We are planning many other Scott family adventures. Uncle Ed is coming to visit on Nov 8th. He is staying 6 days. We are all excited to have a visitor. We have not had a family member visit our home in 5 ½ years. So that’s what’s up in Guam.
