Our Next Duty Assignment: Japan

We should have found out if we were going overseas again on the 3rd of May, and since we didn't hear anything (till today) we thought we were going back to the states for sure. This kinda sucked because we had a choice of Illinoise, Oklahoma, or Texas (again). It seemed really bad because we would not really be close to family or be someplace we wanted to be.
Today, I got a phone call from my NCOIC saying that I was selected to go to Kadena AFB, Japan. This was really unexpected, but relieving since we didn't want to go to those cruddy stateside choices and we've wanted to go to Japan since I've been in the AF.
So were going to Japan. It's pretty cool because we get a free trip back home for doing a COT (consecutaive overseas tour) so we all plan to come over in the spring or summer. We'll make good money there and it'll give me a chance to brush up on the Japanese I learned in highschool.
I'm not sure when I have to be there yet, or even what my job will be there. I do know it'll be a great assignment and we're all prett happy about it.
Would have like to been close to home, but there was no way this time. I might be able to work out a way to get to Fairchild after this, but we'll have to see.
