Skunked!

Hank and I were in the middle of watching a movie last night. It was around 930pm when we hear a knock at the front door. It was Jordan. He had been out walking around with a couple of his friends. “Mom” he says, “I got sprayed by a skunk”. The smell was overpowering. I told him to stay outside and his dad and I would figure out what to do. We decided to have him stand on the jogging path and wash off in the back yard. Hank got a hose and I emptied all the cans of tomato sauce that we had into a pitcher. Keep in mind it was about 45 degrees outside. Jordan stripped down to his underwear. I wasn’t out there for the de-skunking but Hank said it was HILARIOUS! Jordan did strip down to nothing the last couple of minutes. I went online to see if there was anything else we could do and found that peroxide and baking soda work better than tomato juice. Jordan came in the house and went up to shower. Hank and I went to get peroxide at the Shoppette. We laughed and joked about the skunk incident the entire trip. I asked Hank if he was mad at Jordan for messing around in the woods and now we have to deal with skunk stink. Hank said “no, he had natural consequences. Getting spayed by a skunk is it’s own lesson. He won’t make that mistake again on purpose or accident.” Hank had to throw away the clothes Jordan was wearing. We figured washing them and smelling skunk wasn’t worth the trouble. After a few showers, Jordan smelled better . Jordan said he and two of his friends ran into the woods because they were spooked by something. I will ask him more on that later. He plays in the woods all of the time. Anyway he heard the skunk spray and then he smelled it. I asked him if his friends got sprayed. He said “When I realized what had happened I ran home. I don’t know what happened to them.” Talk about self preservation. Hank was proud that Jordan had the presence of mind to knock on the door and not just run into the house.
Spring break sucked. It was cold and rainy most of this week. We didn’t go to Sea World because it was to chilly. We got a lot of housework done. The kids did go to the park a few times in the early part of the week. We went to Chuck E Cheese on Wednesday. The girls had a blast. Hank and I figured out one of the timing games so we won almost 1300 tickets. The girls got fairy dolls and some other junk.
Well I have got to go get ready for church. Love you all.
Hank posted some new pictures, so check them out.

Ashlyn was sick at the beginning of the week so she missed a couple days of school. She still seems grumpy though. We got her spring school pictures back and bought a small package because they were so cute. We have been going to the playground almost every day after I pick her up from school. The weather has been nice here. The girls are now in shorts and skirts.
Spring Break is next week. We may go to Sea World. They have a new season pass. If you pay for one days admission you get the rest of the year FREE! WOOOOOO HOOOOOO! We thought Sea world is a good choice for our season passes this year since I am pregnant and will later have a small infant. I can’t enjoy the rides at Six Flags. Sea World has a huge park and lots of shows. The kids can have fun and I can sit if I need to. They also have a small water park.
Hank is taking some more leave at the end of the month. He needs to finish a course. He did get a 100% on the first test. He studied for several days. The first time he took it he failed. He studied but waited a month to take the test. This time he studied and took the test the next day. He was shocked when he saw his 100%. He thought they had made a mistake.
Amiyah has been sick the last few days with a low grade fever. She does fine as long as give her a fever reducer. She is growing up so fast. We were out yesterday when The National Anthem came on. We all stopped and faced the music and put our hands on our hearts. I looked down at Amiyah and reached out to place her hand on her heart as I usually have to do. Her little right hand was already over her heart. She sat in her stroller quietly. Alyssa said “WOW, she is a smart 2 year old. Amiyah knows the color red. I realized this morning she also knows what is green and blue. She has these big blocks. We all build towers with her from time to time. When we play blocks we tell her the colors. I guess she was listening. This morning she went poop and went and got me a diaper and the baby powder. She is also going through the MINE faze, EVERYTHING is hers. We find it funny most of the time. She seems to have more a sense of personal space. She will yell “MY HAIR!” if you pat her on the head when she is in a bad mood.
I pulled out the hand-me downs and went through them. Ashlyn has a whole new wardrobe from Alyssa’s old clothes. Amiyah also had some things I saved from Ashlyn. I told Alyssa we will go shopping for some new summer clothes for her. Alyssa takes care of her clothes, so I buy her nice stuff. Amiyah wore a dress yesterday that Alyssa and Ashlyn both wore. It looked nice still. With the new baby I will have some stuff from my SIL Jenny. Luckily he will be born the same time of year her boys were born. Her kids are also petite like my kids.
I need to plan out the next week so I can keep the kidlets entertained. Hank does get a couple days off so we will go do stuff like Sea World on those days. I think we will do a lot of trips to the park. The girls also need hair cuts. I know we will do a movie night. I also am going to enlist their help in cleaning out the garage. Anyway, hopefully it will be a productive week.
Ashlyn sold about 450 boxes total for Girl Scouts. The troop leader said that we did the most cookie booths. This is so unlike Hank and I. Ashlyn will get several prizes. I did have to bribe her to do the last booth. Nobody had signed up for the last day. I told her she could buy 2 things at Claire’s. It is a small store that sells girly accessories. She put in 110% for the last sales. She would ask us every 20 minutes or so if she is getting 2 things at Claire’s? I would say yes, if you do your best. She would then say “I love selling cookies.” It looks like we found her currency. Well I am off to get some housework done before the kids are home for the week. Aunt Mary, I hope you are doing well post surgery. Are you able to use your hand yet? Aunt Jean when are you going to Alaska? It is March already. I remember you saying this summer that is right around the corner. UE, did you ever figure out what to do with your mantel? Love you all.
