Six Flags sucks! Doughnuts make you feel better.

The puppies have their eyes open. They should be able to hear in the next few days. We think they are a Pitbull mix. They are very cute though. So yes UE we probably have Bull-shitzu’s. I had to add the ZU for my more sensitive readers, if there are any.
The kids have another week off from school. They have been keeping themselves busy with new toys. Hank has been helping them with their art kits and making sure everything that needs adult assistance gets opened and played with. We have also played all the new games we got them. Alyssa got Pass the Pigs. She loves it.
We went to lunch down on The River Walk on Saturday. We took a look at the Alamo. We had a $10 gift card to Texas Land and Cattle. We love that place. It is a steak house. Kids eat for free on Saturdays, so we got our moneys worth. Amiyah was so well behaved. I think that was the first time in months that we've had a peaceful meal out with her.
We then went to Six Flags. We have season passes that expire at the end of the month. We thought “hey, let’s go one more time before they expire.” We were excited because the park has a Christmas theme. When we got into the park we realized half the park was closed. Most of the coasters were closed for the season and so were parts of the park like western town. Because so many rides were closed, all the other rides had the longest lines we had ever seen there. We decided to skip it all and go home. We had already ridden every ride in the park during our last 3 visits. I can’t ride the coasters now anyway. We took the kids to Krispy Kreme to soften the disappointment. They actually took it well. We don’t have a K-K on our side of town so it was a treat.
We are going to the housing office to get on the waiting list for a 4 or 5 bedroom. The waiting list is LOOOOOOOONG. It could be a year and a half or longer. We will probably leave San Antonio to another assignment before we ever reach the top. We are getting on it anyway, you never know. Love you all

Hank posted some pics. Merry Chrismas.

Merry Christmas everyone! We are all done with opening gifts and stockings. We all had a great morning. The kids all loved their presents. The girls said that this was the best Christmas ever, they say that every year. Hank posted a few pictures. It may look like a lot of gifts but you have to divide it buy four. The kids get to open their stockings first. Then we eat breakfast. We open our presents in sets now. Each kid takes several gifts and then they take turns opening them. We then pause the video camera and clean up all of the paper and bags. Hank and I open the toys and then the kids play with them and look at them and then put them where they go. We do this a few times. It keeps the mess from becoming overwhelming and the pieces don’t get lost this way. I have also found that the kids hustle to put their toys away when they know they get to open more when they are done. We started this about 5 Christmas’s ago. We’ve found that with so many kids it is just easier this way. It also makes the excitement of Christmas morning last a lot longer.
The girls bought things for everyone at Santa’s Work Shop at school. Jordan bought something for the girl’s. We have the kids open their gifts for each other on Christmas Eve. Hank and I also open the gifts they got us, or made us at school. We started this so that their presents weren’t overshadowed buy the more expensive ones on Christmas morning. I think it feels better for the giver.
I got very little sleep last night. Between Amiyah waking up cranky early in the morning and Ashlyn having an ear ache. I am a happy kind of tired though. I am blessed to be around to care for them. I had medicine in the bathroom to give Ashlyn, so many people don’t. I also know in about 8 months this will be a common thing for a while.
Well I am going to go have a shower. We are going over to Hank’s co-worker’s house for Christmas dinner. Her husband is Chamorro, (native of Guam.) They are making a bunch of Chamorro food. I am SOOOOOOO excited. I miss Guam. They are making Guam red rice.
I love you all and hope you had a great Christmas.

Puppies and hamsters, ohh my.

The puppies are just over a week old and very fat and happy. They should be opening their eyes and ears buy the end of the week. Their fur is starting to change and get more distinctive markings. I have asked around and many people have said that we may never know what my dog was bred with unless we do puppy DNA testing. I will leave that up to the new owners of each puppy. I have done some research about Shi-Tzu mixes and the Shi-Tzu gene seems to be dominant. I hope this is the case for our puppies. Ginger has stopped her post partum bleeding so she is aloud back out in the main part of the house again. She has also quit looking for a place to hide them, I think. She used to sniff around behind furniture and under things when they were first born. She is really good about us handling them and changing their towel and cleans their box. I am kind of amazed about that. She even lets the kids pet the puppies. I think that is good. The puppies will be used to children when they go to their new homes.
The hamsters escaped early this morning. Hank went upstairs to get his work belt and saw one run under our bedroom door. It made it into our walk in closet. Hank eventually caught him. The other one hadn’t made it off Alyssa’s desk. We are lucky Hank saw him. I can’t imagine that we would have ever found him. Alyssa had went to change their water last night and forgot to put water bottle back in the cage. She doesn’t normally do that. The hamster’s climbed out of the whole in the top of the cage. Smart little escape artists they are.
The kids are so excited about Christmas. I am going to make sugar cookie dough and Hank is going to roll out the cookies with the kids later. I hate dough it makes me angry. I just want to through it across the room. Pastries are not my strong cooking skill.
It has been on the cold side for San Antonio. Your cruddy weather up north has caused several cold fronts here. We have been down in the 30’s and 40’s the last few days. It is supposed to warm back up into the 60’s and 70’sthis week, thank goodness. How is the snow up there in WA? Have you guys gotten any relief? Aunt Mary, I wish we could hang out with you guys on Christmas Eve. You always do such fun family events.
Well I am off. Baby cranky pants is up. Love you all.

New puppies, Alyssa is being knighted and Jordan had a baby for a couple of days.

Christmas is creeping up on us. The kids have their Christmas party’s at school today, so they are so excited.
Alyssa is being knighted this morning. The elementary school has a program that encourages knightly behavior and character. About once every 3 months the teachers select a child from their class that they think displays the characteristics of a knight. Alyssa’s teacher said sometimes she may not choose anyone. She also said she chooses a child with most of or all of the characteristics, not just the ones they focused on this quarter. So Alyssa doesn’t know she is being knighted. They surprise the kids that are chosen at a school assembly. Hank and I are going at 10am to watch. We are so proud of her. I know those of you who know Alyssa are not surprised. Hank and I are happy that the school recognizes good behavior. Some schools don’t do things like this because they believe it hurts the kids who don’t get chosen. We think good behavior and qualities should be rewarded.
My doggie had her puppies on Sunday morning. She had 6. Can you believe that my little dog had 6 puppies? They are all doing well. We all check on them often. The kids LOVE the puppies. We have a little runt. It seems healthy just smaller than the others. For the first several days we made sure he had a booby. He seemed like he would get pushed out of the group. Now he holds his own. Ginger is a good puppy mommy. The puppies have gotten so fat already. They should open their eyes in the next week or so. They should be able to hear soon after they open their eyes. Thank God for Google. I have relied on it a lot for information on the birthing process (whelping) and puppy care.
Jordan had to take care of a crying baby doll for a class called (Personal and Family Health.) It was a fun 2 days. First of all the baby they gave him was African American. The class only has 2 babies so you can’t be picky about race. Jordan’s friends razed him the first day. They asked “Who’s da baby’s daddy?” I thought that was funny. The baby is very high tech. After the 2 days the teacher uploads data from the baby to see how you did. Jordan had a digital bracelet that can only be cut off. When the baby cries he has to rub the bracelet across the baby’s back and then figure out what the baby needs. It has a bottle that you have to hold to its mouth for about 15 to 20 minutes. It also has two diapers that have sensors in them. You have to actually switch diapers when you change her for it to register. She also needs to be burped or rocked. If you take to long to respond it is considered neglect on the read out at the end. You also have to support the baby’s head and the baby can’t be knocked around shaken or dropped or it is registered as abuse. A couple of my friends had to do this in high school but the babies they had just had a key you inserted when they cry. Technology has come a long way. Hank and I think they need to have body fluids. There’s nothing like being spit up on or having a new baby poop through a diaper.
So anyway the baby kept poor Jordan up a lot the first night. At about 5am yesterday morning we received a knock on our bedroom door. Jordan says to us in an irritated and very tired voice “I think this thing has a malfunction, she woke me up like 7 times in the night. She won’t shut up.” I laughed and told him. “She doesn’t have a malfunction, she’s realistic.” Last night went much better for him. He left for school this morning only to return 15 minutes later. “I forgot the baby,” he said. He turns her in today.
Have you ever been in a restaurant and there is a toddler that just drives you nuts? The kid is a real brat? Maybe he or she is crying or running around? Well Amiyah is that bratty kid. I think we are at spanking age now. She also hates the van. Usually it is worse when she is tired. She won’t sleep in the van very easily. I know in 6 months this to shall pass, but it sucks in the meantime.
I am going to get ready to go to Alyssa’s assembly. I love you all.

A good long post.

We are all doing fine here. I had a really bad UTI this last week. I am all done with my antibiotics and I am feeling better. I still am tired and feel like crap for half the day, but that is due to pregnancy. I am grateful that I don’t actually get morning sickness. I am glad to just feel cruddy.
Amiyah has started blaming the dog for everything she spills. She blamed the dog when I caught her drawing on her hand with a marker. She will say “ohh no doggie”. She pooped in the bathtub last week and said “eewww, ohh nooo doggie!” We correct her, but it is really funny.
Alyssa had her two choir performances and did great. Hank filmed the first one but the music teacher’s butt was in most of the video. It was really crowded at the tree lighting so Hank couldn’t find a better place to film. The music teacher is in her 50’s so I don’t even think Hank got any grins and giggles out of it.
Ashlyn has been on the rampage. She Took a pink pair of pants and a pink t-shirt and colored a design on them. She then finished the outfit with a bunch of stickers. She got reprimanded, but I look at it as her being creative. She also has trimmed her own hair. She only trimmed a little. I was angrier about this since she had asked me about cutting her own hair and I specifically told her not to. She has done it on two different occasions now. She is band from our room and bathroom. She also drew on our TV cabinet in our room with washable marker. She has been the kid that draws on stuff. She knows better. I think she thinks she can make things more beautiful. We will have to be more vigilant. I tell Hank that at least she keeps life interesting.
Jordan seems to be doing some what better in school. His attitude has improved. He had career day at school and talked to a Navy recruiter. He really wants to be a Navy SEEL. “who knows if I spelled that right?” I think this may help him apply himself. He heard straight from the recruiter what it all entails. Barely getting by is not a Navy SEEL quality. Jordan had a good birthday. He had a few inexpensive gifts and a cake. We don’t want him to feel rewarded when he is doing poorly in school. His Christmas will also be modest. We should have done this his whole life; maybe he wouldn’t be so difficult.
My dog is still pregnant and a big fat rolly polly dog. We say every day that we don’t think she can get any fatter, but then she does. I joke that she looks like she is going to explode and puppies will shoot everywhere. You can actually feel them moving around in there now. We made her a whelping box and close her in the laundry room with it if we are going out for more than an hour or two. I am going to start putting her in there at night. I don’t want puppy juice all over the house. We know the puppies will be an added work load until they leave at about 8 weeks. We are a little excited to have this experience. I think the kids will gain a lot from it, especially Alyssa. We do worry a little because I have read that Shitzu’s can have trouble with delivery. Luckily this breed only has 1-4 puppies so that will be good. We will put it in God’s capable hands. I know when she has the puppies that instinct will most likely kick in and she will probably need little or no help with the process. I think that is amazing. I will let you all know how it goes. We already have several people lined up who want a puppy. Well I am off to the Commissary to pick up dinner. We are having sloppy jo’s. I currently have heartburn and feel sick to my stomach. I DON’T HAVE A COLD THOUGH! We are all currently healthy and have been for a couple weeks. I forgot to mention. Alyssa had her Month post-op and the doc said she looks great. He gave us some eye drops to help keep her eye moist. I guess it looked a little dry and pink still. She doesn’t have to go back until June.
Here is a funny for you. Amiyah has been constipated on and off lately. I have discovered corn works wonders. It gets her moving but doesn’t give her diarrhea. When I told Hank this his response was “Of coarse it works, it is full of fiber. It is like throwing a bag of ball barings down your colon.” He is so funny. Well love you all.

Happy Birthday Aunt Jean!

Happy Birthday!

Love you and thanks for reading so much.

My website is broke and I can't upload stuff anymore...I have a bunch of pictures too. I'll keep trying to get them to help me figure out the problem.

What did you do today?
