A good long post.
Posted Friday, January 16, 2009, 10:18 AM, CST by Dawn | It has been a while since I have posted. We are doing fine. Amiyah is just getting over a cold. Hank and I had a touch of it but not bad. The kids have a 4 day weekend. It looks like Jordan barely passed all of his classes for the semester except Home Ec. He may have passed Home Ec but the teacher hasn’t posted all of the grades yet. He was told he passed all of his midterms. I don’t think his math teacher has graded them yet. He thinks he did OK. I had my first doctors apt on the 7th. Everything looks good. The nurse found the baby’s heartbeat first try. Hank and I noticed it’s significance right away. With our previous children they usually have to chase the baby around with the Doppler for a few minutes before they can get a good listen. I have been scheduled for an ultrasound on the 23rd. I may be a few days off on my LMP so the doc wants to make sure of my due date. We are always happy to get an ultrasound. I was also told that there is only one baby. I was worried about that. I thought God would think it was funny to give us a surprise baby and then make it two. Hank is working some shift work this weekend. He is working 8 hour shifts. He has to go to a seminar next month. It is here on base and it lasts a week. It is for MSgt selects. He may take some leave in the next couple of months. He has racked up 60 days worth. He may take a week in March and April. The Air Force has started giving 10 days non chargeable paternity leave, basically free leave for fathers after a new baby is born. He will probably tack on another 10 days of his own leave and take a few weeks off in July when we have the new baby. The girls are doing well in school. Ashlyn says she likes school. Her teacher said she used the word dung and knew what it meant. I guess she got the word out of one of her animal books. Amiyah is a little fire ball. Her behavior in public is improving. We have worked with her at home more. She can still through a tantrum but they are short lived. We have started putting her in her crib when she throws a tantrum at home. Most of the time she has a complete attitude adjustment. Who knows how long this will work. At least the new baby won’t be able to walk, talk or whine for a while. Well I am going to go play with the girls and get them going for the day. They still need to get dressed and then I will do their hair. It is a little cold this morning so I may make them play dough and play some board games with them until it warms up later. The baby loves having them home. It does make my life easier in some ways. I need to start thinking about what I am going to do for Ashlyn and Amiyaha’s birthdays next month. Amiyah will probably just have a cake and gifts. Ashlyn said she doesn’t mind sharing her party. I figure we will do this until Amiyah is 3. She doesn’t understand yet so why bother with a separate party. The puppies are almost 5 weeks old. They have started soft puppy food this week. We have been feeding them twice a day now we are up to 3 times a day. I have enlisted Alyssa’s help with this. She enjoys doing it. I am glad to have her help because it lightens the load for me. We bought them a large wire crate with a plastic bottom. It is the size you would use for a big dog. They have lots of room even when the mama is in there. They are walking, running, and wagging their tales. They cry and paw at the cage door when they see us. Alyssa and Jordan play with them when they are home. Ashlyn and Amiyah have to have a big person with them when they want to see them. Hank clipped their nails last weekend and will have to do this every week until they are rehoused. I am hoping to have them weaned at about 7 or 8 weeks. They should be ready for adoption by about Valentines Day. What a wonderful experience this has been for the whole family. Well I am off to the races. I love you all.
